17/04/2011 I was fortunate to stay at L'Escargot in late-summer 2008 while bicycle touring Belgium during the Spa-Francorchamps F-1 race. The proprietors -- Edwin & Tineke -- have created a magical, hilltop setting outside Spa in nearby Theux. The pitches are large and open; every possible amenity is available and in new condition. The eco-conscious bathroom facility is easily the best I have encountered touring internationally, and the "clubhouse" is a nice combination of bar, restaurant, and casual meeting room with additional seating available outdoors on the patio and has wifi. The proprietors are welcoming and friendly and know how to give true concierge service, from routing suggestions to assistance and tips for nearby attractions and stand ready to help in any way possible. Ed is a great cook and Tineke will make you feel at home. L'Escargot is like no other camping facility, and caters to everyone from families to adventurous singles, tenters to RV owners and "Luxury" campers.
