In der zweiten Haelfte des 18. Jahrhunderts wurde diese Kirche in brasilianischem Barockstil erbaut. Der Vorbau mit einem Stufenaufgang ist flankiert von Statuen der Propheten. Das Innere der Kirche ist durch das herrliche Rokokointerieur sehenswert.
Die Basilique du Bom Jesus ist wirklich einen Besuch wert, wenn man in Minas Gerais ist.
