Our impression of Curacao was that in Willemstad the culture, the economy and the luxury are all around. There are many corners in the city where you really think that just some meters away you left a beautiful hotel and then you have the view of very simple...not houses but cottages. The prices are almost equal as in Europe, because everything is imported. Curacao produces very few by its own. Fruits, vegetables and groceries in general come from abroad (Venezuela, Rep. Dominicana, Netherlands!). The beaches are just gorgeous. A swim teacher we met down there told us that the natural beaches in Curacao are those rocky-coral reef kind of beach, not really the soft and sandy we think of when we talk about the Caribbean. That was a nice information, so we learned that those beautiful beaches like Porto Mari were artificially dug. Nevertheless wonderful. We would go again!
