Perigueux is an old historic town, with beautiful leafy squares with many pavement cafes. The medieval architecture is amazing andthe five domed cathedral is spectacular. In July/August night markets are held leaving the squares teaming with life. A mime festival and a jazz festival are also held in the summer months. Out of season it is just as pretty, with live concerts in some of the cafes. A British pub can be found near the cathedral with lots of activities involving both the British and French communities. The surrounding countryside is beautiful; canoeing just outside the city wild boar and deer roam in the evenings.
