Le Barcares was so relaxed, purpose built but full of character. We were in a town (well, more like a suburb) which is built all along the best beach I ever saw (9km long) but there was always access to some natural beauty and wherever I looked I saw a lovely view - we kept saying "where's the camera?" One of my friends is very active - she spent the whole two weeks windsurfing, and other things - well, in the end we just left her at the Etang (lake) and let her get on with it while we went to cafes and bars and the beach. It was a lovely, fun, relaxed place - you cant fault it as a holiday destination - and the locals are genuinely friendly.

We had a fantastic stay. The village is easily reachable, lies centrally at the car route, Perpignan and Spain. To make trips from here is ideal. special is also that there is a boat on the beach with a casino and a fantastic restaurant, the Lydia. beach
