nice boulevard with lively outdoor cafes. Furthermore, there are a couple of shops but you will have seen them in a jiffy. In short: if you want peace and quiet, it is a very nice place but not when you want to visit many places or go out.

Quiet provincial town with enough shops for holiday purposes. Nice food at the quay, but apart from that not very interesting.
For young people there is, as far as I can see, nothing to do. Direct area is beautiful, but also a bit dull.

Argentat is nice small place, with two times a week a market.
At the quay you can nice food. Furthermore, there is not much to do. Of course you can make many canoe-trips from here.
You should not camp in L'echo de Malpas because of the noise from stone q
