15/11/2012 We visited this campsite early July 2012 and we were extremely disappointed. The one positive was the location: a 10-15m walk from the pretty Jard Sur Mer Harbour. The biggest problem with the site is that the caravans are extremely close to each other (ours was 2 metres away from the next one). We we frequently kept awake at night by other campers shouting/drinking/smoking into the early hours on their decking, inches away from our caravan bedroom. Parking is a big problem...Like most vans, we had decking and so we had to park in front of the caravan, and squeeze into a small spot most days. The family in the caravan next to us had 2 cars (one of which was often parked in front of our van!!) so we frequently had to park at reception and walk to our caravan. The facilities including swimming pool and bar are far too small for the number of people on the site, and were frequently over crowded. We were extremely disappointed at a site ruined by being far too over-crowded.

14/09/2011 We stayed at this campsite the last week in August - We had a great time - The 2 pools are really warm so great for kids (5 and 3 year old). Their playground has been refurbished and it is great too. The staff at the campsite were very polite and very helpful. Jard Sur Mer is quite rural and not tacky at all and we really enjoyed your walks to the port in the evening. Really recommend the beach called "La Mine" - Our bungalow seem to be quite new and very clean - the only negative point is the campsite is quite shaddy so no much sun around our bungalow but that didn't really bother us. A great holiday overall

04/08/2008 August 07. Decided against Cornwall and went to the Vendee what a beautiful spot. campsite was great for the kids never saw them unless we informed them not to wander. Mobile home was great once we got used to the space. Facilities on site were great. The younger child (8yrs) took it upon herself to be the daily bread collector - had no qualms of her wandering on her own! unlike other large campsites in the area. The pony rides were the highlight of her week! Elder child still found something to do (teenager) Site is very quiet in mornings and at night, the only noise came from the cheeky red squrriels which loved to throw pine cones on the pitches - a few near misses! Site in right position to walk to harbour, you can walk to food shops if want, little ones may find it a drag. Must visit the butcher and get takeway paella etc just need to take large container or it comes in foil carton that leaks!! overall great relaxing family holiday. Going again this year.

05/07/2007 We were here early June and it has really pleased us. Had a brand-new bungalow with a terrace which was ideal with regard to the not always brilliant weather, places are, however, somewhat small. Pleasant staff, there is nothign to the shop but there is a hypermarket close in the buurt. The sea is not within walking distance but you do have 2 very beautiful beaches there. In the town itself there is not much to do, in the neighbourhood a number of nice trips can be made. All in all a nice camp-site where we would certainly return again.

22/08/2007 We went camping with vacan solei, the tent was just great. The place is less beautiful then you imagine. Think of a small child that cannot walk yet and then from the tent you get your feet into sand immediately. This is not very child-friendly, we had expected real grass. Entertainment for the children was only in French, and there was nothing to the disco, bedtime stories, musical etc.
Location is at a beach with boulder, someway further, however, there is a sand beach but then you must find your way through seaweed etc. However, there are small pools of water for the kids.
Village is not great, however, there are nice places in the area.
Our first time in the Vendee, but to us, this is not the bit of France we had imagined.
However, very pleasant people/staff.

10/09/2006 Camping Les Ecureils in Jard sur Mer at the Vendee was a camping located in a pines forest. So a sandy surface. If the weather was hot, you still had a lot of shades from the trees, but if it was cloudy, then you really wanted some sunlight though. The outdoor and indoor pools looked good, nothing special, yet they were clean and well maintained. There were 2 playgrounds for the children and there was also a kids club daily. In the evening there was often something to do at the bar. The sanitary facilities were bad. Many dirty toilets, old showers. They did have baths for the kids, but no plugs though. The location was perfect, close to the beach. The beach was a 5-10 minutes walk. A secured beach was at a 10 minutes drive, with clean toilets. The personnel at the camping was very friendly and spoke English.
