Have just returned from a two week holiday. The site is clean and safe for children. It is also quiet .

The onside bar is small but hosts entertainment most nights. The restaurant food is comparable with many of the restaurants in StJean and also offers take away service. The local beaches are beautiful along with the local towns and the seafront is spectacular. We enjoyed the cycle pathsfor both walking and cycling, and will probably hire bikes from the site instead of bringing ours. Completely relaxing with fantastic French charm. Can't wait for summer 2103!

Campsite had large, pretty, quiet pitches (where we were anyway!),and lots of room for kids to play out. Good mix of nationalities on site. Reception and shop staff helpful when you needed them. Pools were great - good choice and kept clean - kids loved them. Great to be right next to the forest and 20 min walk to beach - or there is the option of driving for a few minutes with young children and car park at the beach. It's a 2km drive to St Jean de Monts centre with more lovely beaches, plenty of parking, restaurants and lots of entertainment put on in August. Lots of touristy things to do with kids in surrounding area. Downside was lack of anywhere to buy fresh fruit/veg within walking distance, and lots of traffic in town due to popularity of resort during school holidays. Overall a lovely holiday - would recommend campsite. We stayed with 'Venez Vendee' a group of mobile home owners - so our privately owned mobile home was very well looked after.

We stayed in a privately owned mobile home in great comfort. These are better equipped than company owned homes. The site is ideal for families with children of all ages. There was something in the way of entertainment every night. A new manager has made a difference. We will be back.

I wanted to find some reviews before we left the uK to come to Les Amiaux and all I could find apart from one review were negative comments. I think people are quick to write a bad review but often forget to write a good one!

I visited this site with 2 other families and it was the perfect place for a beach holiday. Okay so the toilets were sometimes not cleaned 24/7 and the pools were a little chilly - did the kids mind?...not one bit in fact they LOVED the 5 pools that the campsite has to offer and relished in the fact that they could cycle round the whole site on tarmac and find play areas en route. The beach is a 20 minute walk/10 minute bike ride and is well worth a visit.

The showers were warm, the shop had everything in it and our only grumble was that the water was 4x the price of a supermarket bottle but that is what you would expect.

Hope this gives you another side to this campsite - don't overlook it!

Would never go again. No one speaks any english. Very overpriced. Management very unhelpful. Arrived at 11pm from late flight. Would not let us drive in, had to carry luggage and bags all through the site. Would not let us use their printer to print flights home and accused us of stealing a carrier bag, we had bought the day before from the camp shop. Asked me to leave the bar, where I used my laptop, as I did not keep on buying drinks. Wifi advertised on all the site-surprise, surprise= only available in bar area.

Nothing for older kids to do. Like a prison camp.

Never Again!

Firstly we had great weather and that's surprising as this area has a microclimate that causes cold mornings then bright sunshine from about 12 onwards. We stayed in the Focus mobile homes which were adequate for 5 of us, the cooking facilities excellent. The supermarket is very close by, you have a choice of 2. The indoor pool is the only reason to choose this place as it is excellent and made our holiday. We stayed at the back-end of August/September and it wasn't busy which also added to our enjoyment. Yes I have to agree that the security wasn't quite on the ball, but then again our most precious possessions were always locked up in the car. There is very little to do around the park you have to travel out, then there are many places to go, we went to the tourist office where they had very useful cards of lots of local attractions. We spent nearly every afternoon out exploring in the car and managed to fit pretty much everything from Nantes to Les Sables D'onne.

Have just returned four days early from this campsite. Sadly our first & last experience of such a holiday. Dilapidated pools too cold & deep for a four-year old (too cold for a 40-year old) and the indoor people was standing room only - no lifeguard of course. The shop was overpriced and tiny, the bar horribly expensive at £5.00 a pint (and we're from London!) and the 'rustic' restaurant was just drab and dreary. Re-fried chips aren't what you hope for in France. Oh and the shower drain got blocked. Our emplacement was hurricane alley and the security of the caravan's is shocking. Anyone could have easily forced a window and with small children this is unforgiveable. There was no security on the gate either to monitor those coming in or out.

DON'T GO!!

Should have stayed for 5 nights only stayed one, that was enough! You will need to supply your own toilet paper and plug, the toilets and showers were under severe pressure (very dirty). But of course its the 'High Season' in the Vendee, as if this is an excuse!! It was just like Butlins-next-the-sea, management wasn't interested in any complaints, just shrugged their shoulders and said it was the 'High Season'. Very noisy disco on site, plus very noisy disco next door and lots of cars near us with stereos on full blast. Get the picture! Quickly moved on next morning (after having my bike stolen overnight) to the Loire, back to civilisation

The outdoor pool was a real disgrace, especially the toddler pool. It was green - looked as though the tiles hadnt been cleaned since last year. The paving slabs were broken & uneven. Playparks - not much in them - sand dirty & full of weeds. We had no water pressure in our mobile home despite paying a lot of money extra to get a better mobile. Take away very expensive. Beach nearby is beautiful but would be better driving to it especially if you have young kids. Needless to say we will not be going to this site again. Have to say our courier -Johnny- was brilliant!

A fine camping and very quiet in the early season, we liked it a lot. The reception of Ron and Yvonne was incredibly hospitable and they were most helpful during our vacation. Big plus! For the rest a nice surroundings and St.Jean is a nice place with a beautiful boulevard. The mobile home was fine and clean!
