Chamonix is a cosy village: lots of terraces, hotels and restaurants. The area is beautiful and is nice for summer walks, with small children too. Also a lot of options for campers. Too bad the tunnel through the Mont Blanc has just been re-opened.

Chamonix has a pretty large and high ski area. Disadvantage is that it consists of several sub domains, which you seperately will have seen within a day. That means that, compaired to most of the other French ski areas you will spend more time in the ski
