After many years of visiting Tignes, Val d'Isere en Val Thorens we went for something different. The weather was a disappointment but this makes other things stand out all the more! Trip and travel time: 100 miles closer, 15 mins from the motor way and lovely and quiet. St. Gervais is on an altitude of 854 metres and the road towards the village is always clean! The appartment is above a bakery, chemist, and ski hire company in the centre of town. Next to it are a supermarket and the OdT where you can buy ski lift passes. There are plenty of parking opportunities (also covered) and much places to go. The bus stop is about 25 metres away and takes you to the first lift. After that you get into a vast area with wide pistes and plenty of choice for both beginners and more experienced skiers. It is very lovely that you are in 'the middle of the trees'. We thought the people were muchf friendlier and more cooperative and less hasty here. The prices are about 10-20 % lower for food, ski hire and lift passes. The appartment is just as expensive as in Tignes but now just 67 metres and a washing machine on 27 metres in Tignes en Vdl.
