Op het gelijkvloers “geschiedenis van stad St. Goar en het kasteel”, gedocumenteerd door talrijke exposities, vondsten van opgravingen, infopanelen, litho's en oude lettertypen. Variërend van de Romeinse periode tot wederopbouwplannen 20e eeuw. Een model toont de situatie van het kasteel en Fort rond 1600. De info-tabellen geven uitleg in het Engels en Duits. De kelder met oorspronkelijk tongewelf uit 1371 omvat de tentoonstelling “twee eeuwen industrie en ambacht”, zoals kuiper-hulpmiddelen, machines en uitrusting van een figuurzaag-fabriek en een boekbinderij, alsook het hoogtepunt van deze ruimte:de oude Rijn rots-apotheek.
