Together with 2 friends I stayed at Pela Maria for 10 days and it was super! The food was a bit monotonous but you don't book half board and expect culinary highlights! The food was just fine and there was some variation as well! The staff was very friendly and spoke English well, some even spoke Dutch...They were also very helpful. The rooms were normal and cleaned well.
In short: The perfect hotel for young people! The location is perfect between Star Beach and the boulevard!
The hotel had a spiral staircase with loose banisters and the lift wasn't very safe either; it often hampered and you had to watch the height difference while getting in and out. My wife uses crutches and I would have panicked if there had been a fire. The shower is very cramped and slippery, the beds were rock hard, the food very monotonous (every day the same), staff wasn't always friendly and spoke no English (Russians). We had cockroaches and we couldn't use the toilet for a week. If we had known this beforehand we would have preferred to pay a bit more because we now had to out for dinner every night. Sorry, but no more Pela Maria for us. Maybe it's good to have a look around here, we think it shouldn't be recommended. Fortunately we've been in Crete more often and we had a good time. The cleaners smoke in the halls and the rooms while they clean, airco and TV are present (against payment). Sorry but this is a poor hotel. Kind regards, R. Veldhoen.
We were here end of May!! Some reviews are exagerated, if you enjoy luxury so much don’t go to such a cheap hotel. The rooms were clean but not luxurious. The food was good but I wouldn't book all-in, the food is not varied enough for that yet tasty. The staff was really very friendly. Very atmospheric on the terrace in the evenings, happy hour all the time! Every 3 days the towels are changed, you will get a large one and a small one. If that's not enough for you, you can always bring your own!! All in all a very succesful holiday for little money in a fine hotel!!!
We just got back from a week of holiday in this hotel. The towel service is just very lousy. One change in 3 days. Food isn't too good either, but it's not a luxurious hotel. The staff is super friendly. No queue's at the bar. After 23.00h you can still enjoy nice drinks for little money.
We stayed at Pela Maria for two weeks. I can't relate to the negative comments. I didn't see any cockroaches. A lovely shower cabinet. A nice hotel. Small rooms. The air conditioning isn't cheaper at other hotels. Kind and helpful personnel. Good cleaning. They gave us clean towels every day. They only had to give them every other day. They thanked me for my politeness. You guys need to try it some time. Maybe the personnel will do so too. I liked bar Downtown. Kind personnel. I can't tell you guys something about the pool, because i went to the beach. Good food. I can recommend this place. I'm 32 years old and i stayed at a room on the third floor (top floor).
A great location close to the clubs and Starbeach. Poor food. There's this restaurant in the basement with good food. It's the same kitchen however, so rather weird. The food for the guests is very poor. The rooms were ok. The bed was ok. Poor service. Air conditioning costs 5 euros a day. You can also press the test button and you'll have free air conditioning.
The poorest hotel I've ever been to! We booked all-inclusive, but the food was too poor. We ate at restaurants. Flies all over the place. Cockroaches close to the food. A dirty pool. Small rooms. Poor cleaning. I can't recommend this hotel!
