The room: worn down sheets that were too short for the matrass, bare matrass with springs, 2 single beds that couldn't be put next to eachother because they're located on concrete. Noise at night from outside. Too small bathroom, showercabin 50-50cm, way too small. No hairdryer, once a week new soaps, simple buffet with the same cold dishes all the time, icecream and melon for dessert the whole week long, no entertainment. Closet in the room with 2 small shelves and on one of the shelves was a safe. Why no extra shelves? We had to lay our clothes on the floor due to lack of shelves. We had to pay extra for airco, tv and safe. Too few tables were located in the shade. Too small parasols above the tables around the swimming pool. There were broken recliners as well which were never removed. No play equipment at the swimming pool for the children either. The staff works very hard and good and is most friendly.
Hotel Despo was really disappointing, the first night we were dumped in a basement because there were no other rooms. The food was just plain out discusting. Eggs that had been there for ages, old bread, bad tzaziki. The food did not look tasteful. Eventually we spend much more money cause of the discusting food, so we went out for dinner. This hotel is NOT recommendable and our advise is to take it of the website or atleast do not offer all-in. We did have a lovely time on Crete itself. But no thanks to our 'wonderful' hotel
Arriving on Wednesday it all looked nice, until i saw my room on the 1st floor. Only a small window and a showerhead that could not be hung up. Also the room was opposite to the joined toilets of the hotel. After reporting this i had to wait till Sunday to get into the other room, which was okay. Other then that the food wasn't much, in the morning there was often bread from the other day. Swimmingpool and bar were okay.
We stayed at this hotel with the family. We had a great time. Kind personnel. Good food, a lot to choose from. They cleaned the rooms every day and made our beds. Good entertainment. A well kept garden. I can recommend this place. We had a great time!
