We had a great holiday. Crete is a fine island with a nice population.
beautiful room, the location is very beautiful but the difference between Garden and Park can hardly be found in the brochure. the entertainment team is very good.
First impression at 2am at night was diappointing, everything was very basic.
The room was not clean and was cleaned briefly, the bathroom was dingy and taking a shower in the bath without being able to hang up the shower head was just dangerous. Sanitary facilities and all the ragged towels are in need replacement, we had the plumber in our room twice.
After a day or two, you will get used to it and try to make something of it. This was the upgrade room, booked via the Telegraph???
The food was reasonable, but had little alternation.
The village of Gouves is fairly quiet with plenty of possibilities, but it lies on the approach route to Heraklion, the weather was good; 30C +.
The first time we booked all-inclusive disappointed us, especially the drinks were of inferior quality.
We stayed at Gouves park. We enjoyed our stay. Good food, sometimes too cold though. A lot to choose from. Tasty beer. The pools were ok, not as nice as shown on the pictures though. The German operator tried to translate the excursions to Dutch and English, very nice. We visited Watercity, a lovely place for kids. A free meal in Gouves garden, tasty. Clean rooms. They cleaned them every day. Clean towels every day. A good air conditioning system. Close to the beach. A reclining chair will cost you 6 euros a day. We want to go back some day.
We just got back from 12 days in Gouves park/garden. After seeing the picture of te touroperator we were really looking forward to it. IN the bus to the resort we were told not to flush toiletpaper down the toilet ( so not exactly hygenic) At the reception, at half past midnight we weren't welcomed very friendly, so that was a good start..The room was too small for 3 people, our daughter of 16 had to sleep in a bunkbed that was too small. Our beds were also too small so we had to sleep with our ankles out for 12 days. The food was cold. limited and sometimes raw. The themenight that was supposed to give us a special Greek atmosphere was a fiasco. again, cold, stern and raw food. The only thing good was its location, close to the beach and at 10 minutes walking distance from a cosy shoppingstreet with a lovely restaurant called Dimitris. I already filed my complaint with the tourop. ( im sure nothing will come of it) my advise to people that do want to try it, Don't do it, bring your money elsewhere.
Booked this trip through touroperator on the internet. Strange that there is a child-discount given untill the age of 18, for us it was fine, but with other bookers it wasn't.. Will be continued.. Then you are left in the hands of touroperator…First of all they didnt even take the effort to drop us of at the accommodation, it was like, this is where you have to be and you can see the rest for yourself. Then the introducing chat. For excursions and stuff. It was ment to be at 12.30 but changed to 17.00. its a shame when you are expecting that. But we went anyway....Once we were there mr Rob did not have very much time for us. Booked an excursion to Watercity, where this Rob dropped us off at the wrong spot, waited for 2 hours, so we called and we were hung up on three times. After that we booked the organisation. Mr Rob could not be reached. So we changed our excursion to the next day, again, dropped off at the wrong place, seen the bus coming, so run.... To be continued on our next review
