A holiday in Berlin is like stepping into a time machine. The famous halves of the city the - Capitalist - west and the - Communist - east provide tourists with a charming and impressive tour. It is the capital of Germany and it is located in the north-east of the country. It’s 3.4 million inhabitants make it the largest city in Germany as well as one of the largest in the European Union.

Getting around town is easy using public transport. You can take the U-Bahn (underground), S-bahn (trains), busses and trams. The Welcome-card is a must for those who plan on using public transport. The card allows you to use all public transport for the price of the card. You can buy it in ticket machines in the station and from tourist information kiosks.

The weather in Berlin is mild oceanic. If you are planning a holiday to Berlin, you can be sure of temperatures averaging 22-23 ºC in the summer, and around 0 ºC in the winter.

The past lingers on in the historic sights, and the modern architecture and the trendy clubs provide the traveller with a glimpse of the future.

When on holiday in Berlin, one of the most important sights are the remains of the now fallen Berlin Wall. The East Side Gallery is a well-known fragment that remains. The Brandenburger Tor is also worth a visit!

The Egyptian Museum of Berlin is the place to be for those who love museums.

Shop-aholics on holiday in Berlin are at the right place. The Kurfürstendamm is the largest shopping boulevard around. If you’re looking for high-end boutiques and famous fashion designers the Friedrichstraße is the place to be. There are some nice flea markets where there are plenty of bargains to be found. Twice a year, the two nights the clocks change, Berlin offers all night shopping. This special occasion is marked with music and fantastic shows. Hundreds of people flock to the city on both days.

There are lots of trendy places to eat in Berlin, a surprising amount of them in old East-Berlin. Traditional German cuisine is served everywhere. Bratwurst is a well known example of German cuisine. Berlin also offers a wide variety of popular foreign restaurants. A meal in the restaurant located in the Funkturm, 150 metres up, is a must for those who don't fear heights as the panoramic view of Berlin is amazing.

There are lots of bars, discos and cafes to be found here, with no official closing time. A holiday in Berlin is a holiday in the clubbing capital of Europe.
