24/11/2009 To begin with my partner and I were put in 2 single rooms, obviously being gay is unheard of in Iceland! One of the rooms in the basement was disgusting - just like a prison cell, dirty and tiny. Then after asking for a room together we were put in a room in the loft where nearly the whole roof was in a slant, so you could only stand up by the door. The TV and half the lights did not work. If you only intend to sleep in your room fine, otherwise avoid like the plague!!

25/06/2009 So impressed with this hotel - our stay was for 4 nights, bed and breakfast and was SO reasonable! The room was small, but workable as was the en suite, but all immaculately clean and perfectly functional. Hot water all the time and the shower was powerful, unlike in some cheaper hotels. The breakfast was continental, but absolutely fine to set you up for a day's outing. The staff were really friendly and helped us organise lots of trips. The location was faultless - right in the centre of it all, and next to the huge cathedral - so you could always find your way back to the hotel! Free tea and coffee 24/7 was really impressive, considering we paid £1+ for the same machine tea and coffee in some places! Would definately recommend.

25/06/2009 We stayed for 5 nights at the Leifur Eriksson. The hotel has a great location in Reykjavik with free street parking over the road. As others have said the room is small and functional but not incredibly clean. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful with bookings for trips and restaurants. Breakfast was okay but the room got incredibly busy at some times leaving some guests without seats. The breakfast room however, could be used in the evening for having a snack of having a complimentary drink. It was good value for money -especially with stay for three nights get one night free but if you intend on spending much time in your room this is not the place for you.

25/06/2009 would highly recommend for a budget break.
Rooms were clean but a little basic. Our room in the attic was a little quirky in shape.
Only disapointment was the breakfast which was unimaginative.
Hotel well placed for exploring the city

25/06/2009 Would definitely recommend it to others. It is in a perfect location, quiet but near great shopping and restaurants and the Halgrimschurch opposite is stunning. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, particularly Peter who went out of his way to make our stay successful.

25/06/2009 Good value for money, very clean and comfortable. Staff are excellent, very helpful. The only downside was we arrived late after midnight and the room we were given smelt of stale tobacco and was very noisey as it was on the ground floor. We asked to be moved but no more rooms were available. I think this was because week ends are very busy.
Otherwise really enjoyed our stay, hotel is very central to everything. We were moved to another room after check out on the Sunday, which was excellent.

25/06/2009 Although the room was basic it was a fantastic hotel to stay in especially for its friendly staff, cleaniliness and location. Staff were always happy to arrange or follow up on trips, were available 24/7 and even put on a breakfast for us at 5 am as our departure was so early. The location was great, with a few minutes walk to the main shopping street and restaurants. We drove past many of the bigger hotels which all seemed to be alongside the very busy and noisy main roads. Leifur Eriksson by contrast was in the heart of the centre, with very little passing traffic. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

25/06/2009 Basic rooms with good communal space. Very friendly staff who were keen to help. Breakfast was adequate and there were free drinks all day which was really useful.
For the price it was really good value for money and very well located in the centre of town. I'd recommend it!

25/06/2009 The best thing about this hotel is the location right in the centre of Reykjavik. It is across the road from the famous church Halgrimskirkja and it takes less than a minute to walk to the main street Laugarvegur. Every service, shop and restauarant you could possibly need is very close by.

The room was fine. It was clean, it had a small flat screen TV and the bed was comfortable. It was nothing special, but it was well maintained, good value for money and I would definitely stay here again.
