See you next year
It was a very enyojable stay. I was satisfied with the service, the food. The owner was very friendly and helpful, he was doing his best. The room was warm, with the nice view, and beautiful finish touches. But the most important thing was that they had an outside terrace with the chairs, and their own duck running around, and keeping an eye on us ;) I definatelly recommend this place for everyone!
A uniquely enjoyable experience.
The Drijfpaleis was a uniquely enjoyable experience. The decoration is amazing. The atmosphere is very relaxed but everything is well organised. Situated on the river the views are interesting, the location peaceful. The breakfast is generous - enough to make lunch too! We had the honermoon suite with a suspended bed which was extremely comfortable. We stayed for 4 nights. Ruud and his cat are very welcoming hosts.
A nice room and excellent breakfast.
We enjoyed our two nights on board and Ruud and Annelise were most welcoming and helpful is letting us know about Arnhem.
Breakfast was very substantial and enjoyable.
It is not suitable for young children - it is a houseboat after all!!
We found the "honeymoon suite" most comfortable (even after 42 years of marriage!) but the internal steps in that room and to other rooms are very difficult for those with mobility challenges.
The view over the Rhine and its proximity to Arnhem centre are great plusses and the obvious artistic talents of Ruud and Annelise shine through in all aspects of the accomodation.
Top Place!
One of the more unusual bed and breakfasts you will find, starting with the location and then the decor, lovingly styled and painted by Ruud, the owner. He was helpfull and friendly without being invasive and left me to my enjoyment of the setting sun across the river and the free internet access! I was travelling alone, so this last point was greatly appreciated. The place is perfect for couples and i think that women will find this location very appealing ;-)
The night was spent sleeping and being gently rocked by the waves from the passing ships plying their trade along the Rhein. Breakfast was BIG, which was perfect as i was on a cycling tour and needed the extra energy. I couldn't finish everything and that which was left was graciously fed to the ducks that had congregated in expectation below. Ruud's enthusiasm and knowledge of his land helped me to make some good choices during my time in Holland and avoid some pitfalls, he even arranged sunshine for the whole visit!
Great Place!
Truly the most unique accommodations we had on our 16 day tour of the Netherlands. Nicely furnished and tastefully decorated, sort of like staying in an art gallery. Nice location near the city center within easy walking distance of dining and shopping. Always something to see during the day with the boat traffic. Then at night the boats stop and the place is very quiet. Great breakfast served each morning. Ruud and his cat "Little Girl" were perfect hosts. Arnhem is a great city to visit with the Kroller-Muller Museum, Het Loo Palace, and Dutch Open Air Museum all located nearby.
