Last week we stayed here for 3 days. It's indeed a large hotel and it doesn't look that great on the outside but it is close to the sea. We had booked an arrangement and without having to ask or pay for it we got a room with sea view; wonderful. Pool and sauna were beautiful. The food could be better but it tasted fine anyway. A tip for a nice and cosy restaurant: Zilte Zoen!
We really had a good time here, I don't quite understand the complaints. I regularly stay at hotels and of course you can do better but Zuiderduin is fine!
in April 2008 we stayed in this large, surveyable hotel. The location is very good, near the beach and centre. You are treated very impersonally, you feel like a number there. The room was definitely not clean, especially the bathroom; hairs everywhere and toothpaste stuck to the sink. When we reported this, nothing was done. The 2d day still nothing was cleaned and we got clean towels from the reception. The rooms are considerably dated, in short, very disappointing.
Qualiteit of the breakfast was reasonable, breakfast room is ridiculously big and was not cosy and very impersonal.
Sauna was beautiful, but this was because it had just been renovated. I would recommend this tretament for the entire hotel! Egmond is very cosy with wonderful restaurants and nice shops, but hotel 'Zuiderduin' was not for us.
We went in June 2007 but had a great weekend. Hotel has a very good location with regard to the cosy centre and the beach. You can have wonderful food here and make nice walks along the beach.
Breakfast is very elaborate, there is a cosy bar where you can also have a bite to eat, a large playground area for children and a small but nice swimming pool with sauna facilities.
In the area there are very nice villages such as, Alkmaar, Schoorl with the dunes to climb on, Bergen etc.
In short, this hotel is suitable for everyone, from families with children to the elderly, disabled people etc!!
