Incredible Staff! Highly Recommended!
We stayed at Balboa Inn for one week, and loved it.
Pros:
- Lovely garden and terrace. Our kids (5 and 3) loved walking around in the garden, as did we. Pretty murals painted on the walls.
- Very helpful staff - went above and beyond. Gloria brought treats to our kids on several occasions, helped set up a kids swimming pool, and more.
- Breakfast - fresh fruit (pineapple, papaya, juice, cereal, eggs (and once they had pancakes), sausage/bacon, toast, more.)
-Room - had A/C. Comfortable (but squeaky) beds.
- Internet - worked pretty well when out on the terrace.
- TV - not in the room, but in the common area. Kids loved watching cartoons in Spanish on the satellite TV.
- Books - lots of great travel books on vacationing and living in Panama.
Cons:
- Room was small and very simple. No sitting room except for beds. Some plugs didn't work.
- Couldn't get Internet access in our room
- Smoking allowed on terrace - annoying when trying to enjoy breakfast

Ideal for Jazz festival visitors, near Casco Viejo
We planned to attend the Panama Jazz festival and wanted to stay in a non-conventional well known hotel, because we like to be with the people one-on-one. It helps to get a true feel and vibe for the place...
We had trouble finding available accommodations but a business acquaintance recommended we stay here and ... what a lovely surprise!
The rooms, staff and the service was wonderful. Great space, Internet and everything... Ahh, the location in Balboa, we can't imagine a better area to stay. Close to everything but quiet and very safe.
The next time we go to Panama we'll be at the Balboa Inn FOR SURE. It's a great value for the pocket and exceeded our expectations on the whole experience.
And the Jazz festival was just fantastic!
Superb
After arriving in Panama City on a 3-hour delayed evening flight, The Balboa Inn was an excellent start to our 10 day stay in Panama and thankfully, the Balboa Inn-arranged airport pickup didn't fall through.
The location, accommodations, breakfast and service were all superb. All the staff was friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable and hassle free. Gina's help to change travel arrangements made all the difference and I wish other inkeepers would take lessons from her on how to treat visitors. The area around the Balboa Inn is very residential and quiet yet within minutes of every major attraction.
I travel frequently to Latin America, alone or with family members and this was one of the very best experiences we have had while traveling for well under £ 70 a night.
I highly recommend the Balboa Inn to anyone I know traveling to Panama!
