We stayed in an apartment for 14 days. Cosy and very clean. Too bad they didn't have a coffee machine in the kitchen. No TV or radio. Very nice surroundings. Very great place for people who loves to stroll.
The rooms had a side-terrace, very noisy. A stench in our bathroom and in the evening a pool of water was lying on the floor in front of the toilet and the bidet. We received another room and that one was okay. The breakfast was okay, but didn't have any variation. The dinner was very nice, but very limited. The lounge chairs at the pool were almost all broken. The pool got maintained well though. No parasols though. The indoor pool was okay too. The bus stop was in front of the hotel, 1.50 Euros. I recommend renting a car at Avis.
In May I stayed at Dom Pedro. There were a lot of old British guests. It consisted of 6 buildings. Number 6 had the highest position. It had the biggest and sunniest rooms. No fridge or airco there. The other apartments were dark and really needed some renovation. They were already renovating the hotel, at the time I was there. A nice pool, although all lounge chairs were broken. Friendly personnel. The bus to Funchal stopped in front of apartment. The dogs in the neighbourhood were very noisy. We booked bed and breakfast. It was okay, although it didn't have much variation. Nice fish though. The weather wasn't that great, cold and cloudy. The island was lovely, but there wasn't much to do. We couldn't see all of the scenery, because of the fog in the mountains.
