14/06/2008 Spent 11 days on Madeira. The accommodation was fine. The rooms in the hotel were much smaller then I had expected as the reviews on this site are so positive. The room was fine. It was really clean and we had extra towels to use in the pool. I really liked that. The view was amazing and we could see the boulevard and the sea. The view never got boring. Stayed in Room 31 (were given a free upgrade). The breakfast is just amazing. We didn't have dinner in the hotel. There are some lovely restaurants in the area and most of them are within walking distance. I can really recommend hiring a car. If the weather is nice I can recommend driving into the mountains and just taking the time to explore. I didn't like driving near Funchal. People there just don't seem to know how to drive. The mountains were fine, you do need an experience driver and don't be scared of the hills and the valleys. I can also recommend the road near the Northern Coast from Sao Vincente to Port Moniz. However, only one way. Can't drive back that way.

10/06/2008 We are very enthusiastic about this hotel! Very friendly staff, very spacious rooms with a gorgeous view of the sea. The hotel has many facilities such as a free bus to Funchal (most convenient!) and the food is fine. In short: excellent!

01/06/2008 We've spent a wonderful week at this hotel. Fine breakfast with lovely fresh bread every day. The hotel had a dinner arrangement which we didn't use. Well taken care of 3-4 course dinner and they even had a stone grill evening. Every night they had live music (dancing) with several performances (ballroom a.o.). There's a hotel bus service (free but you have to register) to Funchal. In the village Canico (up the hill) you'll find several restaurants that serve fine food. We also had some (rough) walks with the help of a guide. We also relaxed at the salt water pool of the hotel. The sun wasn't present constantly but the temperature was great and that's makes the stay fine!

10/05/2008 Upon arrival it appeared that because of a technical malfunction of the computers, our room was still booked till Saturday for someone else. As an alternative we could stay two nights in the hotel next door, 'Riu'. And we got a voucher for a free evening meal in the most expensive restaurant at hotel oasis atlantic. The Riu hotel is of a higher standard and better quality. For us it was a pleasant mistake which gave our holiday a boost. A disappoinment when we saw which room we got in hotel 'oasis atlantic'. next time the riu hotel will be the hotel of our choice and the extra money is certainly worth it. the management from 'oasis atlantic' did all they could to put right their mistake, I know few hotels who would have also acted upon it.
Also this: the car rental service is not at the airport, the car you get is so full of dents and scratches, that it is difficult to prove that you did not cause them, even if you would report that in advance. We bought it off with 49 euros.

19/08/2007 A large and clean double room. Great breakfast. Kind personnel. A shop inside the building. A lovely environment. No shops or village around though. The village is located on a hill. You can go there by bus. There's a bus going to Funchai, it won't cost you anything (20 minutes). Great restaurants in the area. Some steep hills. I can recommend hiring a car in your own country, because it's not possible to hire one during August. Having a car is very nice in this area.

10/09/2007 The accommodation and the facilities of the hotel were good. The shower and the bath were very nice. Friendly personnel. The food in Madeira wasn't that great.

05/09/2007 Helpful personnel and very firnedly. Every day they cleaned the room very well. The seaview was excellent. Delicious food. The breakfast and dinner were both a buffet. Freshly baked bread and all kind of fruit. It was located at a quiet spot. The parrot welcomed everyone!

12/08/2007 Very nice hotel/apartment. Very clean. The rooms were big and neat. The rooms got cleaned well, they even did the dishes. A very good hotel/apartment. SUPER!!!

05/05/2008 Hotel is located in Canico de Baixa. In this area there are a couple of restaurants. In Canico we went to restaurant A Lareira. Food was perfect, service more than excellent, prices of the drinks very cheap. And it was such a service that they come and pick up you and bring back to you hotel.
