25/06/2008 For a hotel with just 1 star this is a fine hotel!!! The location is perfect and the staff is friendly. The neighbourhood isn't that bad really, but I'm a city boy, so I'm probably used to a bit more. I went there for 6 days and had a good night's sleep, beds aren't great, but doable when you've been walking around in Barcelona all day long.

25/06/2008 The hotel indeed has an excellent location near Placa Reial, a lovely square to have dinner in the evenings. Lots of terraces! Ramblas and Placa Catalunya are nearby as well. Hotel is in urgent need of renovation though. In the middle of the night the head of the bed suddenly just fell to the floor ... Because the hotel is located in a very noisy (drugs) neighbourhood this is definitely not recommendable for quiet nights, especially not when you count the non-existing acoustic isolation. Barcelona is a beautiful city but Comercio is not recommendable.

24/06/2008 The location of the hotel is good. The rooms are small, but clean. The airco wasn't working. The bed made so much noise that you would wake up when you turned around. The hotel is very noisy, there's a lot of noise in the streets all night. So we did not get a good night's sleep. Breakfast is very mediocre, just marmelade on bread, the coffee was a plain insult and the croissants weren't fresh either. So we did not eat in the hotel the next morning. Regularly the water of the shower would be cold.

04/09/2007 The hotel was clean and well maintained. The room and the bathroom were a bit on the small side. The location was near the centre. The street the hotel is located on didn't feel completely safe at night, lots of dodgy looking people hanging around (tramps, etc.).
