09/09/2011 We had a fine time there. Almost everything is Dutch, what is especially fine for the children. Had many friends there. Houses are cleaned every day and friendly staff. We certainly go there again in the future to (and yet again in bungalow, my preference is for the apartments). The only small minus was that animation in the evening was not outside but inside. We are already so often inside in the Netherlands so we stayed on our own outside.

09/08/2011 To escape the bad weather I fled with our youngest 14 yr old daughter to Barbacan. Heard a lot of good stories and must say that they are true. Rooms are excellent, neat and clean, great balcony view on the swimming pool. We had breakfast there which was excellent. We didn’t dine there: far too chic. Often went to ‘Broodje Amsterdam’. I missed music by the pool especially in the evening. Animation in the evening was inside which was a shame, therefore, we didn’t go. What actually annoyed me was that at 9 o'clock in the morning ALL the sun beds had towels on them. At 9am the pool opened and Yes all the Dutch had their reserved sun beds, this said I would definitely go back again.

03/08/2011 Sol Barbacan was certainly to our wishes. Returned today after a 14 day holiday and we have chosen this apartment after the good reviews on Zoover. We had a 2 room app which was well kept. Bathroom with bath and beautiful sink. No dirty or worn edges or seals. LCD TV with Yes, NED 1, 2, 3 RTL 4, 5 and 6 SBS and a few of other channels which we didn’t watch. This was unexpected but very pleasant. Large balcony with 2 sunbeds and table and 4 chairs. Kitchen block was also to our satisfaction, microwave, coffee machine, electric kettle, fridge, 2 ring electric stove and all kinds of kitchen utensils, fairly complete! In addition, the app was mopped every day, bed and towels changed when you wanted. Also beach towels! Swimming pool very nice and every evening a Dutch animation team. Reception also spoke English. Certainly no nuisance from young people and radios.15 min walk to the beach. Simply good

29/06/2011 We went in June to Barbacan for the first time. The bungalow and the whole complex wowed us. Everything is clean and uncluttered. The gardens are perfectly maintained and the staff is extremely friendly. All reviews are positive if we had a two improve dots. The buffet in the evening starts at 19: 30 am. If you're with small children is this rather late. There is also next to the toddler pool a laundry room with a ladder that is not shielded. As excited as we are about the complex so we are disappointed about the city. Here you will find no cosy Centre with (beautiful shops) or a boulevard for evening walk to a button. All the fun must be sought in the malls (Jumbo is just around the corner). If you like stone parrots! Many restaurants are bankrupt or gay bars, massage parlours too dirty to drink in. Unfortunately for us there’ll be no second time but that has certainly nothing to do with the Barbacan itself!

15/06/2011 We got back a week and a 1/2 ago from our holiday at barbacan. It was really great. I never like buffets abroad but here everything tasted very good! At lunch even a steak or a frikandel for next to nothing. The bungalow was also very good we could go with our 2 small children directly in to the pool, get a quick drink lying by our door while our son slept. What is also striking that there are people who’ve been coming here for 30 years. And the question is not if it is your first time here but how many times are you’ve been here. So many people come back here. We agree and will definitely come again!

06/09/2007 The whole family stayed here and we got back two weeks ago. We stayed in a bungalow. It was a spotless complex. The hygiene and the technical side were all really well maintained. The bungalow was spacious and really clean. Service was 100% The buffet breakfast is extensive. There's free entertainment in the bar downstairs Monday - Friday. Pool is big enough for everyone, even at the height of the season. The only thing we would have liked was some live music near the pool or the pool bar. It was a bit quiet without it.
They should pay more attention to people who just dump their towels on a deckchair. Lots of people complained about this. 80% Dutch, some English and Italians.
It cost us (2 adults and 2 children) 3100 euros all in, which is quite a lot of money. But it is definitely good value for money. There wasn't a language barrier. It's a fifteen minute walk to the beach, but a taxi was cheap, only cost 2 euros 20.

Stayed in the Barbacan four times now because we thought it was great Some things seem to have changed quite a bit. "Saskia", the leader of the entertainment team is gone. We haven't stayed here ourselves this year, but our friends have told us all about it.

It's still a great place to stay!

09/09/2007 Stayed in the Barbacan for the 5th time. Stayed during summer this time, winter the other times. Had a really nice time. Made lots of new friends from all over the place. As the weather this summer wasn't that great at home we made a really great choice.
