After a week in Ko Samui (great) we spend the second week in Patong Merlin. We had been here before the tsunami and wanted to find out what had become of the Patong people. The hotel was still great, the garden with pools is an oasis of tranquillity compared with the very busy beach boulevard. The hotel is getting older, you can see that in the stairwell cases and balconies. Indeed, there are many Australians; at 9.30AM a beer at the pool, that sort of thing.
Bring a flash light, we experienced loss of power a couple of times. We again had dinner at Sabai-Sabai, at one of the side streets of the boulevard; good Thai food for little money is served quickly. Patong is beginning to resemble Torremollinos, we will not go back here. It's recommendable to make the day trip by speedboat to Phi-Phi; that's paradise, we snorkelled among the tropical fish, great! Give the maids a 100 Baht tip a day, everything will run smoothly. Have a nice holiday!
