Reviews Campsite L'Idéal ****

Very enjoyable stay. Friendly and accommodating staff. Lots for the kids to do. Campsite very quiet at night. Nice selection of pools with a visible lifeguard. Good kids club (very impressed with jasper), but sparse translation for English children which puts them off.

Great all round. Bar and restaurant excellent. Staff really friendly.

We had a fabulous stay in our caravan. It was difficult to get out caravan onto the pitch as the roadways are narrow with cars parked along but once in we were happy with the pitch. Good views. The showers were often cold at busy times of day which was a shame.

Loved the layout of the site - good to have a carpark to reduce the vehicles on the pitches.

Food in restaurant was fabulous and good value. Amazing fireworks! Very comprehensive brochure telling us what to do in the area.

We will definitely be back.

Pros;

Quit and calm.

Nice pool.

Nice view/surrounding area.

Nice playground (more shadow/trees are making it even nicer).

Cons;

All intructions what is forbidden and what you are obliged to do, is not really customer friendly.

Toilets near swimming pool little outdated.

Small porch (nr.164).

A little far away from the lake to go by foot with kids.

Camping L'Ideal is situated in a beautiful, scenic setting. The campsite and facilities are well kept and clean. Very child friendly with lots going on for children of all ages. Good food in restaurant. Majority of staff on reception very helpful. Special mention to the two young ladies who checked out taxis and bus time table for our journey from campsite to Annecy. We made it in time, thank you for

"going the extra mile."

There was only one problem at the camping, everybody complsins about it. The shower temperature was most of the time cold!! Sometimes it was a bit warm but mostly not, tried all three sanitary buildings but every time I took a shower it was not nice. We would like to come back but with the bad showers we don't..

Lovely campsite. Accommodation very good. Staff very helpful.

My only criticism is that I feel the play area and pool area should be more supervised. There were a lot of older boys on the bouncy castle who were not supervised by their parents and who were making it unsafe for younger children, who could have become trapped in it. The older boys were also a nuisance in the swimming pools and parents were allowing children under 16 in the spa area.

Great site with lots of facilities for children. Excellent location especially if you are a cyclist.

Paid our second visit to Camping L’Ideal this year because our first visit (last year) was so good. We were again delighted with our stay and thoroughly enjoyed the walking and cycling in the area. The old railway track is now a well tarmacced and relatively flat cycle way. L’Ideal is not on the shore of Lake Annecy and that can be the only reason it isn’t a 5 star site but for us being away from the lake shore makes it much quieter and in our thinking makes it a 6 star site.

We could see the Paragliders regularly taking off and flying down the valley - a wonderful sight! Talking of sights, what about the site? The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, the pool and water slides were great for exercise and cooling off and that’s all we needed. We didn’t use the onsite restaurant and bar but we never do when camping - that’s just us; we’re sure they are very good.

Any down sides to the campsite? Last year we were with Can as Holidays and this year we booked directly with the site (very easy on-line booking process). The. Canvas Holidays mattress was much thicker and gave us better nights sleep . Canvas also gave us a kettle - important for the Brits! So two things could be better but there are so many positives to Camping L’Ideal that we got round the kettle problem with ease and got used to the mattress quite quickly and concentrated on the numerous positives.

There are large supermarkets (Lidl and Intermarche at Faverges) within easy reach and some lovely villages in the area.

Our favourite walk was through the Nature Reserve on the lake shore and then down the valley through lovely peaceful woodland, coming back via more woods and following a river through Doussard.

Will we go again? YES!!
